"One’s Own."
By Aloin Dubois.
Feel free to berate, hate, to lambaste my empty soul.
Use any word you please, no matter how foul.
Even as you wear your snide scowl.
Getting ready to disembowel.
Remember yourself as well.
To escape the standard hell.
And ring the bell.
To bring back your soul which fell.
Always be yourself.
Don’t be sidelined to the shelf.
Never loathe oneself.
So cheer to your good health.
Why hide?
Make standards be defied.
Open your mind to escape the self in which you lied.
And instead bound forward in a joyful open stride.
Don’t care what the others think.
Don’t care when you’re told you stink.
Don’t follow the first instinct.
Mend the missing link.
Be what you want.
Take your hidden feelings from retirement.
Don’t feel as if you’re a delinquent.
Just because you are different.
So what if you’re weird?
Have your word adhered.
Don't let your opinions be steered.
Don’t be scared, nothing here is to be feared.
No flight or fight.
We can get along alright.
No need for a display of might.
Friends come to those who are polite.
Make sure to salute.
To the man who didn’t stay mute.
Who told people the parts of him that were kaput.
Who told his inner workings to the absolute.
Stay strong against the storm.
Don’t be “the norm”.
Never conform.
To be someone else’s preferred form.

Love, According to the Greeks
Love is a flame; it has potential to heal,
But ‘tis also the greatest pain one may feel.
Oh, and so many kinds exist,
But which one shall be your best fit?
Is it the light hearted eros or ludus?
The desirable pragma or agape?
But be careful not to jump into the fray;
You may catch mania; obsession, decay,
Possessive, accompanied by lust, and envy.
‘Tis much worse than common idolatry.
Do you exhibit eros, or lust and infatuation?
Yes my friend, there is a differentiation.
One may be physical but it is healthy!
The other is rooted in no logic; fantasy.
And, oh, when delightful eros and pragma meet!
Will end with a wo

Doing Our Best
My wife and I are sitting here,
conversing about parenting. Forever
searching ourselves and each other
for how best to tend to the flowers of our
bodies. To know and to embrace each
other and our future.
In each other's vision, we hold forward
our cupped hands and say,
to you I give you this. Our forthcome effot
at the semblance of a life leading children.
But just as waves crash forward and roll back,
our every striving effort is matched equally
with the unmistakable pull of unmet expectations.
To raise a child is to be forever caught between
giving too little and giving too much.

A Thousand Loves
Can you keep up with me?
A life full of love stories
Kissing strangers in the rain,
riding on the backs of scooters with boys,
and getting sucked in to a hypnotic spell,
discovering the woman inside me.
A lost little girl has been found.
You can see her in my eyes
as I make love to a hobo on the side of a hill,
chasing dirty little secrets and letting
the forbidden touch me intimately.
Someone slap some sense into me
as I, overcome with giggle fits-
Is it really possible to live a life with a thousand loves?
Maybe I've stopped counting.
All that matters is that I love this moment-
right now- and love the person I am loo
