"One’s Own."
By Aloin Dubois.

Feel free to berate, hate, to lambaste my empty soul.
Use any word you please, no matter how foul.
Even as you wear your snide scowl.
Getting ready to disembowel.

Remember yourself as well.
To escape the standard hell.
And ring the bell.
To bring back your soul which fell.

Always be yourself.
Don’t be sidelined to the shelf.
Never loathe oneself.
So cheer to your good health.

Why hide?
Make standards be defied.
Open your mind to escape the self in which you lied.
And instead bound forward in a joyful open stride.

Don’t care what the others think.
Don’t care when you’re told you stink.
Don’t follow the first instinct.
Mend the missing link.

Be what you want.
Take your hidden feelings from retirement.
Don’t feel as if you’re a delinquent.
Just because you are different.

So what if you’re weird?
Have your word adhered.
Don't let your opinions be steered.
Don’t be scared, nothing here is to be feared.

No flight or fight.
We can get along alright.
No need for a display of might.
Friends come to those who are polite.

Make sure to salute.
To the man who didn’t stay mute.
Who told people the parts of him that were kaput.
Who told his inner workings to the absolute.

Stay strong against the storm.
Don’t be “the norm”.
Never conform.
To be someone else’s preferred form.
I wanted to try a more uplifting piece to coincide with all the edge I've been producing.
